Founding of Benvitec<\/h6>\n

After the closure of the Campine coal mines, the Smet family takes over the activities and establishes Belgian Environmental Technics.

Benvitec begins by installing plastic membranes on landfills to prevent soil contamination.

Believing at the time that membrane installation would be a temporary application, Benvitec starts exploring new solutions based on its expertise in plastic percolation and degassing shafts as well as drainage piping. This leads to the creation of the plastics technology department, focusing on chemical-resistant process and storage tanks and plastic piping systems. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>
