Demisters

Demisters, also known as droplet separators or mist eliminators, are filters designed to remove liquid droplets from a gas stream. These droplets form due to condensation, evaporation, chemical reactions, or other industrial processes.

Demisters are used to:
✔ Recover valuable substances
✔ Prevent damage to equipment and pipelines
✔ Reduce unwanted emissions

They are widely used in oil refineries, petrochemical plants, and chemical manufacturing.

HOW DOES A DEMISTER WORK?

There are two main types of demisters:

Wire mesh demisters Droplets collide with a fine mesh due to inertia, causing them to stick to the fibers.
They merge into larger droplets.
Once heavy enough, they fall out of the gas stream.

Baffle separators The gas flow is redirected through a series of baffles.
Droplets, due to their inertia, cannot follow the new path and are captured on the separation surfaces.
The liquid accumulates and is drained away.

BlueFil®

BlueFil® is available in PP, ETFE, and PFA, and can operate at temperatures up to 204°C.

Ideal for droplet separation, contact media in scrubbers, and coalescing material for air and water treatment.

1. Gas flow

Fans push the gas stream, containing liquid droplets, through the demister.

2. Inertia effect

Droplets collide with the wire mesh or baffles.

3. Droplets merge

Small droplets combine into larger ones.

4. Liquid removal

The larger droplets fall due to gravity and are drained from the system.
